5 GOOD THINGS ABOUT MENOPAUSE

When we talk about menopause it isn’t overwhelmingly positive and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by negativity.  It goes without saying it can be a tough time but believe it or not it isn’t all bad.  It doesn’t need to feel like the beginning of the end and there are some real positives to look forward to.

5 GOOD THINGS ABOUT MENOPAUSE

It can be easy to be overwhelmed by feelings of negativity when it comes to the menopause.  Whether you are reading articles on-line, scrolling through social media or talking to friends menopause is rarely viewed in a positive light.

We know first-hand that it can be tough time BUT at the same time menopause isn’t all bad.  There is hope!  It doesn’t need to feel like the beginning of the end and there are some real positives to look forward to. Here are our top

1 No more periods!

Hurrah!  This is a big one.  We are really struggling to think of anything we are going to actually miss about periods.  No more tummy cramps, PMS, mood swings, hormonal headaches and just think of all the money we will save on tampons.

2 Sex without worrying about pregnancy

In menopause we can look forward to enjoying sex without worrying about pregnancy.  This can make a huge difference and many women find they have better sex once they reach menopause.  It can be very liberating not having to worry about contraception or pregnancy.

3 You will feel calmer and happier

Once the rollercoaster of hormonal change has passed many women report feeling happier and calmer post-menopause.  As hormones settle, energy levels start to rise, sleep improves and many women report feeling more positive.  It’s true that happiness increases with age and mid-life is known to be one of the most stressful stages of life.

4 Greater self-assurance

It’s not uncommon for menopausal women to report feeling empowered. Partly due to the biological changes that happen in menopause and partly due to the changes that happen at this lifestage.  As well as not having to worry about pregnancy and periods, we are more likely to go after what we want in life with greater confidence that we can handle whatever life throw at us.

5 It’s a Chance to Take Stock of Everything

Menopause is one of the biggest physical changes women go through in their lives and it’s a great opportunity to take stock of everything and make changes that will make you happier and healthier.  Lifestyle changes can make a huge difference to how we manage our symptoms in menopause and better diet, exercise and self-care can set up healthier habits for the rest of your life.  It can also be a great time to think about what you want the second part of your life to be.  The Chinese call it the “Second Spring” and we love the idea of seeing it as a new beginning rather than an ending.  So many women enjoy a fresh outlook on life after menopause – it can be a time about choice and focusing on what you really want in life.
