What are the best ingredients to use in your nighttime routine?

Did you know that skin does its hardest work at night? Skin never sleeps and overnight is when it renews itself, produces the most collagen and repairs environmental damage caused during the day. Amping up your nighttime skincare routine can completely transform your health and condition of your skin, especially in midlife. Follow this simple 3 step routine focussed on cellular regeneration and wake up to healthy, hydrated, glowing skin.

What are the best ingredients to use in your nighttime routine?

What Is the Best Nighttime Skincare Routine?

The best nighttime skincare routine should be based around regeneration – this is even more important around midlife. Skin cells go through a renewal process. The upper layers of skin go through cycles where they shed the oldest skin cells to reveal the fresh new cells beneath. The time this cycle takes varies from person to person but broadly speaking this takes 21 days for someone in their 20’s. In our 50’s, this increases to around 45 days as cellular renewal slows down as we head through menopause. The cellular renewal process happens while we sleep, so using the right evening regime is key to getting great results from our skincare.

Step 1 Cleanse

Cleansing is one of the most important parts of your nighttime skincare routine. A great cleanser will remove all make up and impurities that have built up during the day and create the perfect canvas to apply your nighttime treatment products.

In midlife, opt for a nourishing cream cleanser that will help keep your skin supple and hydrated but won’t dry it out or strip its natural oils. Foams and wipes are a big no and even balms can disrupt your skin barrier and cause dryness and tightness.

Our 2-in-1 Cream Cleanser & Mask is so nourishing it can be used as both a cleanser and a face mask treatment making it the perfect choice for rejuvenating skin that is dry and tight. The velvety formula melts into the skin to deeply nourish, whilst gently dissolving make up and impurities leaving skin radiant, supple and deeply rejuvenated. Its jam-packed with an indulgent blend of antioxidants, vitamins and nourishing natural oils that rejuvenate and revive midlife skin.

How to Use

Use the Cream Cleanser every morning and evening. Massage gently onto dry face and eye area. Rinse a face cloth or muslin in warm / hot water and wring out before gently removing the cream from face and eyes.

Step 2 Serum

A great serum is a must-have product in any nighttime skincare routine.  Serums are thinner in consistency and contain a higher concentration of active ingredients that make a real difference to skin condition and health. Nighttime application enhances absorption. Living M Quench & Soothe Serum is a next level super hydrator designed to soothe and calm skin while boosting radiance and glow. An expert blend of multi-molecular hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and vitamin B5. It helps control hormonal breakouts for an ultra-hydrated, brighter, clearer complexion and well as strengthening the skin barrier.

How to Use

Apply 1-2 pumps after cleansing

Step 3 Retinol

Retinol is the gold standard skincare ingredient for ageing well and it should be part of any good midlife evening skincare routine. There is no other skincare ingredient that can do as much for your skin as retinol.

It targets fine lines, improves skin firmness and elasticity, reduces hyperpigmentation and age spots and encourages cell turnover. Our Super A Retinol Sleep Cream is retinol reinvented for midlife. This high-performance retinol blend has been designed to accelerate cell turnover for radiant, smoother, stronger skin 0.5% encapsulated time released retinol is carried deep into the skin and released while you sleep, targeting skin cells at a lower level. With an ultra-nourishing blend of skin strengthening ceramides and multi-molecular hyaluronic acid it works with your nightly regenerative cycle.

How to Use

Apply Super A Retinol Sleep Cream to clean dry skin and use only at night.

For the first two weeks use just 1-2 times a week on non-consecutive days. If your skin is comfortable, you can then start to slowly increase usage over the next two weeks building gradually to use every other night.

You can use Collagen Boost Moisturiser on the evenings when you aren't using Super A Retinol Sleep Cream. It’s a velvety cream designed for AM and PM use to boost collagen production, relieve skin dryness and boost radiance.

Always remember to use SPF in the morning when you are using retinol.

Once A Week – Use A Nourishing Face Mask
